Introduction
The BT ChatGPT Google Docs™ Add-on allows you to generate text using the ChatGPT API and perform various tasks in Google Docs™. This help file provides instructions on how to use the add-on and troubleshoot common issues.
Getting Started
To use the ChatGPT Google Docs™ Add-on, follow these steps:
1. Install the Add-on: Open a Google Docs™ document and click on the "Extensions" menu. Select "BT ChatGPT for Docs" and follow the prompts to install the add-on.
2. Set API Key: After installing the add-on, click on the "Extensions" menu again and select "Set API Key". Enter your OpenAI API key when prompted. If you don't have an API key, follow the instructions in the help menu to create one.
3. Choose an Option: Once the API key is set, you can choose an option from the "Choose An Option" dropdown in the sidebar. The available options are:
- Select Line From Docs As Prompt: Select a line of text from the document to use as a prompt for generating text.
- Enter Custom Prompt: Enter a custom prompt to generate text.
- Create Table For: Create a table based on the specified prompt.
- Translate To: Translate the selected text or the entire document to a specified language.
4. Generate Text: After selecting an option, click the "Click Me" button in the sidebar to generate text based on your selection. The generated text will be added to your document or used for the specified task.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues while using the BT ChatGPT Google Docs™ Add-on, try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check API Key: Make sure your OpenAI API key is set correctly. You can check the API key by clicking on the "Extensions" menu and selecting "Change API Key". If the API key is incorrect or missing, follow the instructions in the help menu to set it.
2. Select Text: For options that require selecting text from the document, make sure you have selected the desired text before clicking the "Click Me" button. If no text is selected, you may receive an error message.
